Founded in 1926, ESCO originally specialized in exporting grains. It was during this time that Mr. Antonio Escobar recognized a key need in the agricultural industry, the pumps were frequently requiring replacement parts that could be sorted locally. With his technical knowledge gained from years of working alongside skilled technicians, he saw an opportunity for change. This insight led to a pivotal shift in direction, marking the beginning of ESCO's venture into the pump industry and laying the foundation for what would become ESCO PUMPS.
In 1956, engineer Mr. Antonio Escobar founded Escobar S/A in the Barra Funda neighborhood of São Paulo, with the objective to manufacture vertical axis and submersible pumps, as well as the distribution of electric motors and diesel engines. A decade later, Esco Pump was established as the successor to Escobar S/A, continuing its focus on these products while primarily addressing the growing demands of Brazil’s industrial sector.
In 1976, Mr. Antonio Escobar alongside his son João Roberto de Freitas Escobar, relocated ESCO relocated from the Barra Funda neighborhood to its new facilities in Embu. This expanded location allowed for optimized production processes, accommodating larger and more advanced machinery, increased capacity, and the addition of laboratory and bench testing to ensure superior pump performance.
In 1979, the first and second generations of the Escobar family worked together to lead ESCO to developed the first vertical turbine pump with a solid shaft using 100% Brazilian technology. This groundbreaking achievement, completed in Catanduva, featured a standard engine and a depth capacity of 690 feet. This innovation marked the beginning of a new line of high-depth exploration equipment, which has since evolved to include pumps with capacities of up to 1,800 HP, depths of 1,640 feet, and production rates of 4,400 gallons per minute (GPM)
In 1991, Antonio Escobar Neto proudly joined the company as the third generation of leadership. Following in the footsteps of his father, João Roberto de Freitas Escobar, and grandfather, Antonio Escobar, Antonio brought a vision of continued growth and innovation. With a deep respect for the foundation laid by his predecessors, he remains dedicated to building upon their legacy, ensuring the company’s success for generations to come
